Synopsis

"All aboard! Next stop - home. Please mind the gap..."

It's been said that life is a series of journeys, each one taking you somewhere new and unknown. But what if you knew precisely where you where going, because you've made that same journey a thousand times? What if that journey was the bulk of your existence? If your life flashed before your eyes, would it look like one dull, battered carriage after another? Each subsequent one shackled to the next, and the next, and the next...?

It takes a certain kind of person to walk those tracks.

Trained

Doom and gloom for those that are trained

Background

The commuter is basically me deciding that I should make a film of the things that are really in my life and I know exactly about.

So, the ending is not quite me, but it's close - though it might hit the cutting room floor anyway...

This is a 90 second film for the Depict.org competition closing 13th September 2004.

Last years winner, and finalists were pretty good, so I'm not holding my breath, but it'll be fun to do some gorilla filming on the trains with Boyd (playing the main character).

The shooting isn't far away, so I really need to get a storyboard together proto, though I do have my script with added direction.

Oh - and last year saw a finalist with the title: Commuter, so I'm going to have to change the one I've got...to what I really don't know yet - help!

=== UPDATE ===

So now all principle "photography" is done and now I have to edit. The title has also changed as there's a conflicting runner up from last year.

I've also got a real music person working on the score - which is cool rather than hammering something together with Garage Band.

I've now go to get a rough edit done for the end of this week, to send off to the bloke doing the score.

=== UPDATE ===

Okay, so the guy who was going to help me out couldn't, and the monologue wasn't quite right. However, I managed to save myself and finish the film with a simple bit music.

I think it's okay, planning is definitely something I would do better next time, but it's ready to be sent off.
